Project Based Learning
I am very heavily influenced by project based learning given I believe it offers students a considerable amount of variables that benefit their work ethic.
During my three week block I decided to take on the role as the grade 8 math teacher in Mr. Rillings class. I began by introducing fractions, percentages and decimals through Math Makes Sense; Shortly after I began a project with my students that involved the statistics and impacts of abuse, and the manipulation of those statistics.
The outcomes I touched on during this unit I planned were:
Math - N8.2
- This outcome focus's on percents greater then 0 and less then 100.
Health - USC8.4
- This outcome revolves around the impact that abuse/violence has on ones self, family and community.
Art - CP8.11
- This outcome has the students creating something that.
English - CC8.1
- This outcome revolves around presenting to peers.
